  • Description:

With over 11 million minted, the 1926 Standing Liberty Quarter is pretty accessible in most grades. Considered to be in extra fine condition, the 1926 Standing Liberty Quarter may contain slight amounts of wear but detailing will still be fully intact. Since the 1926 Standing Liberty was minted after 1925, its date was strongly struck and has barely been worn down. The Philadelphia Mint assisted in the production of the Standing Liberty Quarter, minting some of the highest mintages of the series. The Philadelphia Mint is prominently known for being the first US Mint in US history, established in 1792. The Philadelphia Mint stills stands today and is continuing the release new coin series.

Succeeded by the Washington Quarter, the Standing Liberty Quarter was minted for 15 years before being replaced. The design of the Standing Liberty came as a breath of fresh air at a time when Roosevelt desired to bring back art on currency. After several revisions, the Standing Liberty depicts a warrior-like Lady Liberty, wearing chain mail on her chest and is holding a shield with one hand. The other hand is holding an olive branch, signifying peace. The date of mintage is inscribed underneath Liberty's sandaled feet. The reverse features a large eagle in flight, with the coin's monetary denomination of a quarter dollar. From a very militaristic theme to dolphins to a more peaceful Liberty, the Standing Liberty Quarter has come a long way during its production.
