Details
This 1841 Liberty Head $10 Gold Eagle is an early pre-Civil War United States gold coin struck at the Philadelphia Mint. Designed by Chief Engraver Christian Gobrecht, the Liberty Head Eagle series was introduced in the late 1830s and remained an important component of nineteenth-century American gold coinage. The Philadelphia Mint produced 63,131 circulation-strike $10 Eagles dated 1841. This issue is composed of 90% gold and 10% copper and contains approximately 0.4838 troy ounce of pure gold.
