  • Description:

The Seated Liberty design was used on the dime, quarter, and half dollar and would be replaced by the infamous Barber coin series. The dime underwent numerous revisions throughout its cycle as the US dime, creating varietal types for collectors. Some examples of these varieties are large and small dates, stars and no stars, drapery being removed, re-struck mint-marks, and a die crack at various stages of production. The Seated Liberty collection is not for the faint of heart and is mainly popular among experienced collectors. The 1875-CC Seated Liberty Dime Above Bow has a mintage of over 4.6 million and is difficult to find in higher grades. Exhibiting severe amounts of wear, the 1875-CC Seated Liberty Dime Above Bow is in very good condition and still has a readable date. The "CC" mint-mark is found on the reverse, above the bow design. The Carson City Mint closed its doors after 20 years of business and is known for the low mintages it produced, due to its small building space.

The Goddess of Liberty has been used in many cultures to celebrate the concept of liberty and freedom from oppressors. The goddess has been used on currency worldwide, especially in the US, and still is a nationwide icon. Normally, the goddess is depicted wearing a draped robe that loosely fits and her hands are usually occupied holding other significant symbols, such as olive branches, arrows, or a torch. On the obverse, of the Seated Liberty Dime, displays Lady Liberty seated and holding a flag, with a shield at her feet. The reverse solely reveals the coin's denomination.
