The 1926 Indian Head Eagle Gold Coin is one of the most iconic designs in American numismatic history, representing the bold artistic shift of early 20th-century United States coinage. Designed by renowned sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens, the obverse features a left-facing Liberty wearing a detailed Native American war bonnet, surrounded by thirteen stars and the date below. The reverse displays a majestic standing eagle perched on a bundle of arrows with the inscriptions “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and the denomination “TEN DOLLARS.” This example has been certified PCGS MS64+, placing it just below the Gem Mint State level with exceptional luster, strong eye appeal, and minimal contact marks for the grade.

The Indian Head Eagle series was struck from 1907 through 1933 and remains highly sought after for its unique incuse design, where the devices and inscriptions are recessed into the surface rather than raised above it. This innovative style gave the coin a distinct appearance unlike any other circulating United States gold issue. The 1926 issue was struck during the prosperous Roaring Twenties, only a few years before the end of circulating gold coinage in America following the Gold Recall of 1933. This PCGS-certified example showcases attractive original golden surfaces with excellent detail throughout Liberty’s feathered headdress and the eagle’s plumage, making it an outstanding collector piece and a historic store of wealth.
