The 1916-S Walking Liberty Half Dollar is a highly desirable early issue from one of the most celebrated silver coin series in United States numismatic history. Designed by Adolph A. Weinman, the obverse features Lady Liberty striding confidently toward the rising sun draped in the American flag, carrying branches of laurel and oak to symbolize both civil and military glory. The reverse displays a majestic perched eagle with partially spread wings resting on a mountain pine sapling, representing strength and resilience. This example has been certified PCGS MS63, indicating an attractive Mint State coin with strong original detail, appealing luster, and moderate marks consistent with the grade.

Struck at the San Francisco Mint during the inaugural year of the Walking Liberty Half Dollar series, the 1916-S is a better early-date issue that remains popular among collectors due to its lower mintage and historical significance. The Walking Liberty design is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful ever placed on American coinage and later inspired the modern American Silver Eagle bullion program introduced in 1986. This coin exhibits pleasing silver surfaces with strong detail throughout Liberty’s gown lines and the eagle’s feathering, making it an excellent collector example from the first year of issue.
