This authentic silver ingot was recovered from the legendary Spanish galleon Nuestra Señora de Atocha, which sank in 1622 during a hurricane off the Florida Keys. Salvaged by Treasure Salvors, Inc., this historic bar is accompanied by its original Certificate of Authenticity signed by Mel Fisher and official Atocha Division documentation.

Cast in colonial Peru (modern-day Bolivia), this hand-poured bar exhibits the classic irregular shape and heavily textured surfaces characteristic of seventeenth-century Spanish treasure silver. Visible stamped markings include assayer and tax stamps, along with period control marks applied prior to shipment aboard the Tierra Firme Fleet. The surfaces display natural corrosion, encrustation remnants, and patina consistent with over 350 years undersea.

According to the accompanying Treasure Salvors documentation: T.S.I. #85A-S812, Tag #559, Manifest #1374, Class Factor 0.80. Measurements are approximately 35.2 mm x 121 mm x 77.7 mm (as listed on certificate). Weight: 72.44 troy ounces (4.460 troy pounds). A-Series designation. The reverse of the bar is stamped “A81 2 05” (as visible), corresponding to recovery and cataloging marks.

The Atocha carried vast quantities of silver bullion, much of it privately owned cargo, making each recovered bar unique in shape, strike, and markings. These ingots were typically struck with the assayer’s mark, fineness stamp, royal tax stamp (Quinto), and often individual owner or shipment marks. Each piece serves as both a tangible artifact of early Spanish colonial commerce and one of the most famous treasure recoveries in modern history.

This bar includes the original Treasure Salvors, Inc. Certificate of Authenticity dated September 15, 1986, along with Atocha Division distribution paperwork confirming provenance.

Please note: As a 17th-century hand-poured artifact recovered from a marine environment, surface irregularities, corrosion, edge roughness, and natural pitting are expected and consistent with authenticity.
