This 1832 Classic Head Half Cent is a well-preserved example from one of the middle years of U.S. half cent production. Designed by John Reich, the obverse features Liberty facing left with long, flowing curls beneath a ribbon inscribed “LIBERTY.” Thirteen stars encircle the portrait, and the date "1832" appears below.
The reverse shows a laurel wreath surrounding the denomination “HALF CENT,” with “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” around the border. Struck in pure copper at the Philadelphia Mint, this type is part of the Classic Head series issued from 1809 to 1836. It was among the some of the last circulating half cent types before the denomination was discontinued due to low public demand.
The 1832 issue had a relatively high mintage and is frequently collected today as a type coin. This piece displays strong detail and minimal corrosion, offering excellent eye appeal for collectors of early American copper coinage.
