The 1904-O Morgan was viewed as a rare coin until the 1960's, when bags of 1904-O Morgans were sent to the Philadelphia Mint. It wouldn't be until the mid 1960's that those bags would be discovered and the mintage of the 1904-O Morgan would increase by the thousands. In these sealed bags were all BU Morgans, making the lower grade Morgans more difficult to find. It is one of those rare times that a Mint State Morgan costs less than the circulated versions, since not many circulated Morgans are available in this date.
