  • Description:

Due to domestic silver hitting an all time low, the production of the Peace silver dollar ensued in 1934. A congressional act was passed, requiring the US Mint to purchase incredible amounts of domestic silver, turning it into coin. This run of the silver dollar was also under the leadership of a new Chief Engraver, since George Morgan passed in 1925. The Philadelphia Mint made 954,097 Peace dollars in 1934, placing most into circulation. Although the 1934 isn't as difficult to find in choice conditions, its popularity in higher grades is the cause for a higher premium. Your 1934 Peace silver dollar is in prime brilliant uncirculated condition, with its original mint luster preserved since the first day of mintage. Being the only silver dollar to memorialize peace, the Peace silver dollar portrays goddess of Liberty on its obverse, wearing a tiara of sunshine rays.
