  • Description:

It is common knowledge, among Morgan silver dollar collectors, that owning every year the Morgan was minted in Carson City is the top priority in their collection. This is because the Carson City Mint was the smallest mint producing Morgans and it was only in production for a short 19 years. This led to every Morgan that carries a "CC" mint-mark, also carries a lower mintage. Only 296,000 Carson City Morgans were minted in 1881, thus proving the point of how valuable these low mintage gems really are. The Carson City Mint was decommissioned in 1893, not being able to complete the Morgan silver dollar series. Your 1881-CC Morgan proudly bears the "CC" mint-mark, on its reverse. It is also considered to be fine condition, with heavy wear on Lady Liberty and the eagle's feathers is to be expected. Even a lower grade can't outsmart a highly collectible Morgan!
