The 1894-O Morgan was minted during a crisis, wherein it was illegal to buy new silver to make the Morgans, due to the overwhelming stash of coins just sitting in the Treasury. This shortage caused some of the lowest minted coins to be made between the years 1893-1895. Being a lower mintage coin, the 1894-O has a mintage of only 1,723,000 coins. The 1894-O was also poorly made, making the act of finding one in mint state a real challenge. The best condition that can be found for this year is either AU or Extra Fine since most of these were put into circulation. Your 1894-O Morgan bears the "O" mint-mark on the reverse, showing it was struck in the New Orleans Mint. A Morgan in good-very condition contains extreme wear on the total surface of the coin but the date is still readable.
