  • Description:

People who aren't Morgan collectors may think the Morgan silver dollar's history is boring. But for those interested in the Morgans, there is so much to admire and learn from its history. The Morgan was in production from 1878-1904. It was the first silver dollar to be minted after the Seated Liberty dollar. The government tried to regulate the silver production by passing laws that gave the US Mint amounts and deadlines that needed to be met. After 1904, the Morgan was reauthorized for production for one more year but fell victim to an up and coming silver dollar, the Peace dollar. Your 1891-O Morgan was minted in New Orleans and carries the "O" mint-mark on the reverse. This coin has been deemed in extra fine condition, with expected wear on Lady Liberty's facial features. Extra fine condition is also the preferred condition of beginner Morgan collectors.
