  • Description:

Being the first US dollar to commemorate a late president, the Eisenhower Dollar had quite the standard the live up to in 1970. Unfortunately, the public didn't welcome the new dollar as expected, with only the west coast using it as currency. There are still hopeful people who expect the Eisenhower to still take off in popularity down the road. When the US Mint desired to produce a new dollar, there was no disagreement that Eisenhower, who also passed in 1969, would be the face of the new coin. The Eisenhower dollar was the first US dollar to be minted since the Peace dollar's production ended in 1935. The 1973 Eisenhower dollar contains one of the lowest mintages, for the Eisenhower dollar, not exceeding two million. The 1973 Eisenhower Dollar Roll consists of 20 coins, made out of a nickel-clad alloy, and are in flawless brilliant uncirculated condition.
