  • Description:

The Morgan Silver Dollar made history by being the first silver dollar minted after the Seated Liberty Dollar. The Morgan was placed into circulation from 1878-1904, then 1921. To this day, it remains one of the longest lasting dollar series in the US. With a metallic alloy composition of 90% silver and 10% copper, the Morgan was minted by the four major mints. George T. Morgan was an English engraver, who came to the states to work under the US Mint Chief Engraver, William Barber. In just his apprenticeship, Morgan designed the Lady Liberty portrait that would grace the silver dollar for over 20 years. The Peace Silver Dollar was minted from 1921-1928, then again in 1934-35. The Peace Dollar was the result of angry numismatists, who desired a more modern design than the Morgan Dollar. The Peace Dollar was the first US coin to memorialize peace obtained through World War I. Both the Morgan and Peace Dollars were hoarded in banks and the US Treasury until the 1960's, where thousands were discovered and sent to mints throughout the US.

Investors enjoy the Peace and Morgan Dollars for their numismatic and intrinsic values. The 90% silver content is what makes an interested investor, a buyer. Since 90% silver was ended in 1965, there is a very limited amount still circulating the market. Circulated Dollars in cull condition are ideal for the investor who just wants to keep a diverse collection and have some 90% silver on hand. Cull condition includes but isn't limited to off quality, damaged, cleaned, polished, and very worn coins. This listing is for one cull silver dollar but can be bought in larger numbers if desired. Cull Silver Dollars are sold strictly for their popular 90% silver content. Since cull silver is collected and acquired over time, we cannot guarantee which dollars, if not both, will be in your order.
