This 1793 Liberty Cap Half Cent represents one of the earliest federal issues struck by the newly established United States Mint. Produced during the first year of the Liberty Cap design, this coin is a foundational piece of early American copper coinage and a highly desirable type for collectors of pre-1800 issues.

The obverse features the classical Liberty Cap portrait, designed and engraved by Henry Voigt. It was inspired by the French “Phrygian cap” symbolizing freedom from tyranny. The flowing hair and upright cap reflect the young nation’s ideals of independence and self-governance in the post-Revolution era. The date *1793* is boldly positioned below Liberty’s bust. The reverse displays a detailed laurel wreath encircling the denomination *HALF CENT*, with the legend *UNITED STATES OF AMERICA* surrounding the edge.

This example has been certified by NGC as **XF Details – Burnished**, meaning it retains strong detail and sharp devices but has experienced surface refinement at some point in its history. Despite the noted cleaning, the coin exhibits excellent remaining detail for the issue and maintains strong eye appeal. The certification ensures authentication and protection of this scarce early copper piece.
