The 1869-S $2.5 Gold Liberty was struck during a time of many transitions for San Francisco. Beginning to mint their own coinage in 1854, this coin could be considered an earlier production in the mint's history. Unofficially this coin has been graded as very fine due to the level of detail that remains on its surfaces after 150+ years.
