  • Description:

There were only 326,244 silver Maple Leaf coins minted in 1995. Since there were so few coins minted than in current years, the 1995 Maple Leaf is among the more difficult silver maples to find. After 2005, the RCM raised the amount of Maple Leaf coins minted every year so only the older coins contain actual lower mintages. But there are other aspects to consider when looking to invest in the silver Maple Leaf series. The reverse of every coin showcases the beloved maple leaf in beautiful silver. The Royal Canadian Mint worked hard to earn the four 9's in purity, instead of the usual three. The appealing numismatic value also puts investors at ease when they are trying to increase their silver collection. Since these silver coins contain .9999 pure silver, this results in a softer and more vulnerable coin. It's best to keep your Maple Leaf collection in an airtight protectant to protect your collection from scratching or tarnishing.

There are two designs on the Maple Leaf coins that haven't changed since their first year of mintage in 1988. The reverse depicts a delicately illustrated maple leaf that comes to life. The RCM upgrades their brilliant uncirculated coins by using a finish that looks like a proof coin. This proof-like feature makes both sides of the coin more interesting by giving it dimension. The coin's weight and purity are also stated on the reverse for validity purposes. The obverse design, by the famous sculptor Dora de Pédery-Hunt, is an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. This particular design of the Queen was used on the Maple Leaf coins made from 1990-2003. The obverse is also stamped with the coin's denomination and year of mintage. It's not a difficult choice to decide whether to invest in the silver Maple Leaf series, when you know they are coming from one of the most reputable and advanced mints in the world.
