Sacagawea Dollar 2019-D BU

The Sacagawea Dollar was inspired by the independently brave Shoshone Native American, who single-handedly led the Lewis and Clark Expedition safely across unchartered territory. Sacagawea helped guide the two from North Dakota to the Pacific Coast, making cultural connections as they went. Apart from history books, Sacagawea has also been used as a symbol of feminism and the women's rights movements, especially in the early 1900's. The 2019-D Sacagawea Dollar displays a portrait of Sacagawea on the obverse, along with the coin's date and place of mintage. The reverse design honors the Native Americans, who were at the forefront of NASA and the US Space Program.
