  • Description:

The Sacagawea Dollar series commemorates the amazingly brave Shoshone Native American, who helped guide Lewis and Clark on their historical expedition from North Dakota to the Pacific Coast. Since the dynamic duo were new to the country, Sacagawea acted as a liaison and created cultural bridges where there were gaps. This not only protected the men but it also encouraged peace among the natives and the immigrants. Sacagawea has been a symbol, since the early 1900's, for women's rights movements, honoring her independence as a woman. The 2013-P Sacagawea Dollar is in brilliant uncirculated condition and will be packaged in a coin flip for protection. The coin's date of mintage and mint-mark are both etched into the rim, not on the obverse. The reverse design displays the emblem of the Treaty with the Delawares and pictures a coyote, turtle, and turkey. Since 2009, the US Mint has changed the reverse design annually on the Sacagawea Dollar.
