  • Description:

Millard Fillmore was sworn into presidency, after the sudden death of Zachary Taylor. Fillmore was the last Whig party president and the last president not to associate with either the Democratic party or the Republican. Fillmore was a lawyer from New York and joined the Whig Party early on in its establishment. He was also the only Whig party president not to die in office or be expelled by the party itself. Zachary Taylor's death occurred at an already stressful time for the country so Fillmore had to step up to the demands. The Crisis of 1850, involving slavery, was happening when Fillmore became president. The Compromise of 1850 was Fillmore's solution to the disagreement among free and slave states. It would be this compromise that would put Fillmore down in history as one of lower ranked presidents.

The Presidential Dollars Millard Fillmore 2010-S Proof was minted by the San Francisco Mint and is in proof condition. Millard Fillmore was the 13th president of the United States of America and is the first president to kick off the 2010 Presidential Dollars. With an honorary portrait by mint-engraver Don Everhart, Millard Fillmore is featured on the obverse of the 2010-S Presidential Dollar. With the Statue of Liberty on the reverse, this dollar memorializes America and what it stands for. The Presidential Dollar series began in 2007, featuring four presidents, at a time.
