  • Description:

When a novice collector begins the Eisenhower Dollar series, they are ensured they will be able to finish the collection, due to its availability and easy access to mint condition. The Eisenhower Dollar was the first US dollar, to be minted since the Peace silver dollar in 1935. Dwight D. Eisenhower passed in 1969, when the US Mint was brainstorming portrait ideas. It became a no-brainer that the new dollars would feature the late president. The only catch was not all of the new dollars could be made from silver. To save time and money, the US Mint made most of the Eisenhower dollars from a copper-nickel alloy. The 1977-S Clad Proof sparkles with a freshly minted shimmer, that comes with proof-finished coins, and is extremely sensitive to fingerprints. Plenty of 1977-S Eisenhower Dollars were minted, making them an easily accessible coin for avid collectors.
