  • Description:

Pandas are often viewed in Chinese culture as spirit animals and represent good luck, peace, and gentle strength. The Giant Panda is incredibly large and strong but it's not a dominating or ferocious animal. The panda's enemies can be counted on one hand, therefore the panda is not viewed as weak in the animal kingdom. Not only is the panda strong but it also is determined when it comes to things it wants. Pandas are indigenous to China and are usually the national animal connected to the country. It is no wonder this iconic symbol was chosen to be featured on every reverse design of the Chinese Silver Pandas coin series.

The Chinese Gold Panda series was first minted in 1982, and offered collectors different size coins: 1, 1/2, 1/4, and 1/10 ounce. Then, in 1983, the 1/20 ounce was added to the series, offering any budget a chance to invest in these beauties. Collectors enjoy the Chinese Gold Panda series, because although they are in brilliant uncirculated condition, they also contain proof-like features. The reverse on these coins changes yearly so collectors anticipate what new design will be featured next. Only in 2000 was there a design freeze, causing the dates of 2000 and 2001 to be identical.
