In 1986, the US Mint resurrected the much beloved Walking Liberty design by placing it on the obverse of every silver eagle coin. The Walking Liberty design originated in 1916, being the obverse design of the US half dollar from 1916-1947. Adolph A. Weinman is the American/German sculptor who is responsible for the iconic figure. Weinman's artwork is scattered throughout the US since it has such an important role in US history. Another familiar design of Weinman's is the Mercury dime, which was in circulation from 1916-1945 and is now sought after for its silver content.
The US mint decided to update the reverse design, of the American Silver Eagle. The Certified Proof Silver Eagle 2021 PF69 PCGS Early Release Type 2 is the first date for the new reverse design. Instead of the Coat of Arms design, the eagle will now be in flight, tightly clutching an olive branch. The font for the coin's weight and purity will also be different than the original.
