The US Mint made history in 1986, by minting the very first .999 silver dollar in the US! Not only did this coin series come at a time where collectors and investors were just learning about the precious metals market but it offered two options for coin aesthetics. Collectors were able to choose between a frosted matte finish or a glossy mirror-like proof finish. Obviously, investing in both is the smarter choice but that wasn't the point. Although the obverse design never changes, the desire to own these prized beauties has only grown throughout the US and the world. Investors enjoyed the BU bullion coin, wherein collectors chased after the limited mintages of the Proof Silver Eagle.
Your Certified Proof Silver Eagle 2015-W PF69 NGC Early Release naturally shimmers with the "newly minted" crisp finish of a flawlessly minted proof coin. Your coin was also one of the coins minted within the first 30 days of production, earning the label of Early Release. The reverse displays the national seal; a large eagle being protected by a sturdy shield. The reverse also bears the coin's purity and weight for authentication purposes. A Grecian goddess is pictured on the obverse of the American Silver Eagle. This design of Lady Liberty originated from the most popular Walking Liberty half dollar design. Adolph A. Weinman is the sculptor responsible for this magnificent design and the design of many other famous works, such as the Mercury dime. On the Silver Eagle, Lady Liberty is a tall and slender figure, who walks with elegance and power. Her presence alone demands respect for the many sacrifices given so that the United States of America can maintain that liberty and freedom. The rising sun encroaches behind her, to offer the hope of a new day. The coin's year of mintage is also written beneath her gentle footsteps.
