  • Description:

While the Morgan was being minted in 1897, the first calculator was used but was referred to as a computer. There were also some advances in the medical fields that year, wherein Bayer makes the first batch of aspirin that would change how people handle everyday pain. Freedom of religion was passed in Madagascar and San Diego University was founded. The Morgan Silver dollar was minted from 1878-1904 but had a difficult time maintaining momentum when there were many bills passed and then vetoed concerning the mintage of silver dollars in general. Your 1897-O Morgan silver dollar carried the "O" mint-mark on the reverse of the coin and due to surface abrasions and few bag marks, your Morgan has been assigned the condition almost uncirculated. PCGS, a very reputable grading company, has assigned this coin AU53. It comes complete in an official PCGS holder.
