The Certified Morgan Silver Dollar 1878-S MS65 PCGS has earned a grade that is considered high for the 1978-S Morgan Silver Dollars and is preserved in an official PCGS holder. Although the San Francisco Mint was established before the Morgan silver dollar began production, the west coast mint helped with the minting of Morgans. It is this important decision that would gain the reputation of producing the best quality Morgans. The San Francisco Mint was not new to minting coins, when it took up the responsibility of the Morgan. In just the first year of business, it turned out $4 million dollars of gold into coins, beginning a very successful and lucrative business. It quickly outgrew its first building and moved to the Granite Lady building, where it withheld its structure during the 1906 San Francisco earthquake. The building wasn't actually made of granite, just the basement was but the name was used for marketing and stuck.
