  • Description:

Considered highly collectible, the 1878 7TF Rev of 78 Morgan silver dollar is on the bucket list of every Morgan collector. When the the US Mint began the Morgan silver dollar, shortly after they ceased production on the Seated Liberty dollar, there were a few mistakes made in the first few dies of the coin. These mistakes would later be adored and become a must for every collector. One error made was the sad depiction of the eagle, on the reverse of the coin. Instead of a proud and full-chested bird of prey, the eagle shown had a very sunken in chest that was pathetic compared to the real thing. In 1879, the US Mint tried to reverse all of the eagles, to make them more realistic, but some still slipped through their fingers. Your 1878 7TF Rev of 78 Certified Morgan Silver Dollar contains the original image of the eagle with the sunken chest. The eagle also only has 7 tail feathers, instead of the 8 it was switched to in 1879. Your coin earned the highly revered grade of MS64, by NGC.
