The 1863 Indian Head Cent is a Civil War-era proof issue from the copper-nickel period of the Indian Head cent series. Certified by PCGS as PR63, this example features James B. Longacre’s classic obverse design with Liberty wearing a Native American-style headdress, surrounded by “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” and the date below. The reverse displays “ONE CENT” within an oak wreath, with a small Union shield at the top.

Struck at the Philadelphia Mint, the 1863 Proof Indian Head Cent had a reported mintage of only 460 pieces, making it a scarce proof issue from one of the most historically significant periods in U.S. coinage.
