The 1819 Great Britain Silver Crown is a classic George III issue struck shortly before the end of his reign. Certified by NGC as AU58, this crown features the laureate portrait of King George III facing right, with the date “1819” below. The surrounding inscription identifies him as King of the Britains and Defender of the Faith. The edge is marked with the regnal year LIX, representing the 59th year of George III’s reign.
The reverse displays Benedetto Pistrucci’s famous St. George slaying the dragon design, an enduring image that later became one of the most iconic motifs in British coinage. This crown has a denomination of 5 Shillings, measures 38.61 mm in diameter, weighs 28.276 grams, and is struck in .925 fine silver with an actual silver weight of approximately 0.8409 troy ounce. The issue is cataloged as KM 675, with NGC listing the same standard silver crown specifications for the 1818 to 1820 type.
