This 1838 Capped Bust Half Dollar has been certified Fine 12 (F12) by NGC, offering collectors an authentic example of one of the final issues in the historic Capped Bust Half Dollar series. Designed by John Reich, the series was struck from 1807 through 1839 and played an important role in early United States commerce. The 1838 issue was minted in Philadelphia and represents the penultimate year before the Seated Liberty Half Dollar replaced the design in 1839.
