When one thinks of the All-American coin, the American Gold Eagle is definitely the top contender. The Gold Eagle was first minted by the US Mint in 1986 and has quickly become a collector's favorite since. The design of the Gold Eagle was inspired by the St. Gaudens masterpiece from 1850. The St. Gaudens coin was Roosevelt's answer to the increased amount of gold that was turning up due to the California Gold Rush. The US Mint is honoring a piece of gold history by keeping the St Gaudens' design on the Gold Eagle. The 2015 American Gold Eagle MS70 NGC Early Release has been graded from one of the most reputable grading companies in the US. Early Release is a title given to coins sent out to grading within the first 30 days of mint production.
The obverse, of the American Gold Eagle is of Lady Liberty. She walks fierce, as if she's a warrior but instead of a sword in her hand, she holds a scepter and an olive branch in the other. Her strong frame is draped in a loose dress that tenderly touches the ground she treads on. Unlike the Lady Liberty on the Silver Eagle, this Lady Liberty's hair is long and gently blown in the wind.
