Carson City Morgan Silver Dollar 1883-CC GSA MS64+ NGC

In the mid 1960's, the government decided to cease the act that allowed silver certificates to be exchanged for silver dollars. This led to a government "hoard," wherein the government was left with about 3 million silver dollars, that were in sealed bags for decades after being minted. They found only 125,000 Morgans were minted from Philadelphia, New Orleans, and San Francisco. The rest carried the highly popular and rare mint-mark of the Carson City Mint. From these coins, the government separated the uncirculated from the circulated Morgans and placed the uncirculated in official government holders that were labeled, "GSA." Although most have since been broken out of their holders, to be sold as just a coin, this Morgan's original GSA packaging is still very much intact. Your 1883-CC Morgan has earned the high grade of MS64+, which means its condition is extremely close to a MS65.
