Carson City Morgan Silver Dollar 1878-CC Uncirculated GSA

The 1878-CC Morgan was the first ever to be minted at the famous mint in Nevada and carry the highly esteemed "CC." Only 2.2 million of these gems were minted in the inaugural year, making them a key coin for any collector's collection. Many of the 1878-CC Morgans were missing for decades, thought to have been melted or nonexistent. Then, in the mid 1960's, the government released millions of sealed Morgan bags, with dates that were thought to be rare. Most of the Morgans, being stored in the sealed bags, were from the Carson City Mint. Since the condition of these coins widely ranged from circulated to uncirculated, the government put all of the uncirculated coins in GSA holders and labeled them as uncirculated.
