The kangaroo is small and lean in stature, while the Australian sun beaming behind encircles him. The stars featured on the coin are inspired by the constellations from Southern Cross, Australia. This coin also plays with the frosted and proof-like qualities known to grace the silver Kangaroo coins. The coin's denomination of "one dollar," and the coin's purity, "1 ounce fine silver," are neatly inscribed on the reverse as well. An effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is shown on the obverse side of the coin. This realistic portrait of the Queen was designed by Ian Rank-Broadley, who desired to depict the Queen as she really is: aged and beautiful.
