1900 $10000 Gold Certificate Fr#1225h MS64 Legacy

The 1900 $10000 gold certificate were all redeemed and stored at the U.S. Treasury warehouse. The warehouse caught fire in 1935, and bundles of the notes were thrown out the window to keep the fire from spreading. Onlookers picked up the notes, many of which had water damage and scorch marks at the margins. It is estimated that under 500 pieces have survived. Many notes were hole punch cancelled (like this note), while others were stamp cancelled on the reverse. This note would make an excellent addition to any currency collection, as it is the highest denomination of U.S. currency available.
