Viewed as a national hero after his efforts in the Mexican-American War, Zachary Taylor had gained many supporters. It would be because of these supporters that Taylor was voted into the White House in 1849. Being the 12th president of the United States, Taylor offered the country a security that many presidents couldn't afford. Taylor's resume reads more of a military general than a politician, which is why it is so surprising he ever entered into the White House. Since his day of birth, Taylor never stayed in one place for too long. Being born into generations of Virginian planters, Taylor's family swiftly moved to Kentucky after his birth. At the ripe age of 16, Taylor began his career in the Army, impressing his superiors with his work ethic and bravery. Although he was born in the South, Taylor's main presidential goal was to uphold the Union. He only served as president for a year and a half before he died.

Zachary Taylor is featured on the obverse of the 2009-D Presidential Dollars. Sharing the date with William Henry Harrison, John Tyler and James K. Polk, Taylor's portrait portrays him as young and well-groomed; two adjectives that wouldn't describe the way he looks as president. Taylor's dates in office are inscribed below his portrait. The reverse reveals a close-up view of the Statue of Liberty, with the coin's tender value. The Presidential Dollars' metallic composition depart from the easy fall-back of nickel and copper. Instead, their golden hue is a result of the copper and brass metals used to form the coins. These brilliant uncirculated dollars come in rolls of 25, from the mint, and carry the \"D\" mint-mark for the Denver Mint. It also cannot be guaranteed that this roll will come in original packaging.

Authorized by the Coinage Act of 1792, the dime is the smallest and thinnest coin in all of the US coins minted. Before the dime became official, there was a strong desire for a smaller denomination of the US dollar. The Seated Liberty dime was the first dime to contain 90% silver in its alloy structure; before that, the dime's silver content was slight below the 90% line. The Roosevelt dime is the most current design in US coinage. Its predecessors contain a list of draped bust dimes, capped bust dimes, Seated Liberty dimes, the Barber dime, which was named after the Chief Engraver of the US Mint, and the Mercury dime. President Franklin Roosevelt passed away in 1945 and sooner after, a legislation was introduced to update the dime's design and feature the beloved late president. By honoring Roosevelt, with a dime named after him, his efforts of funding the cure for polio would be remembered forever. Until 1965, the Roosevelt dime contained 90% silver, 10% copper.

The 1956-D Roosevelt Dime Roll contains 50 dimes in brilliant uncirculated condition and contains the \"D\" mint-mark, since it was minted by the Denver Mint. The 1956-D Roosevelt Dime has a mintage of over 106 million. Only established in 1906, which is considered young for the almost 200 year old mints, the Denver Mint mainly produced commemoratives or mint sets. Coin collectors will see the \"D\" mint-mark from time to time, on silver coins, because the Denver Mint had to aid in fulfilling the requirements of the Pittman Act. Often viewed as the underdog in its earlier days, the Denver Mint has now earned the name of the largest producer of coins in the world!
