The Koala is another iconic figure many associate to Australia and rightfully so. The koala bear is indigenous to the Outback and has been a beloved animal for hundreds of years. Using their incredibly adorable features such as their claw-like paws or short noses, these bears have lured visitors to Australia for the last decade, increasing the country's tourism rate. The Perth Mint chose to start a bullion coin collection that was also considered legal tender.
Each coin is .999 fine silver, in brilliant uncirculated condition, and is packaged in a clear, mint sealed capsule. Under 20,120 silver Koalas were minted in 2015, striking an interest among avid coin collectors. Many collectors enjoy the mint issued capsules that come with the coin and the lower mintages of the larger coins. Following their remarkable attention to detail and quality products, the Perth Mint does not disappoint the assertive coin collector in this series.

-Obverse: The obverse design is the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. She is delicately poised in a side pose, revealing her lovely silhouette on the coin. The attention to detail of the Queen depicts an extremely realistic and older Queen, as if to celebrate her age. She is accompanied by the words, "Australia," "2015," and the coin's denomination, "$10," inscribed on the outer edge of the coin.
-Reverse: The reverse design is of a lone koala, wedged into a tree branch and looking above the trees. In the background, tall grass is encroaching on the koala and fluffy, thin clouds that lay overhead. What really catches the observer's eye is the amount of detail that makes up the koala's body and fur. Each line is accounted for, creating a large and realistic koala. Encircling the outer edge of the coin is, "Australian Koala," and "2015 10 oz .999 silver." The Perth Mint's mark, "P," is also discreetly written in the sky to show where the coin originated.
