Fresh out of Australia's oldest mint, the 2016 Silver Kangaroo coin has been released! The 2016 Silver Kangaroo coin's reverse design has been kept hidden, only to be revealed at the World Fair of money. Not associated with the Royal Australian Mint, the Perth Mint's products are still considered legal tender and are very popular among collectors and investors. The 2016 Silver Kangaroo is the first kangaroo coin to be minted at the Perth Mint and introduces a new security feature at the old mint. "Australia" is written on the reverse, of the coin, but the security feature is inside the "A" in "Australia." The "A" includes a micro-engraved "A" inside of it. This new security feature is designed in hopes that the coin cannot be replicated.
The Kangaroo is the most iconic figure in Australia, since they only live there. There are many subspecies of the kangaroo but the term, "kangaroo" normally refers to the largest species from this family. The kangaroo can also be found on Australia's Coat of Arms and some of its currency. It only makes sense that there is a silver dollar representative of the kangaroo as well. The brand new reverse design reveals a kangaroo in its natural stance: hopping. A series of beautifully intricate designs surround the kangaroo, making sure it gets the attention it deserves.
