  • Description:

With the deadline approaching in 1928, the Philadelphia Mint was able to produce lower mintage coins in the Peace dollar's last years. These lower minted dollars are highly popular among collectors, especially in the higher grades. In 1927, the Philadelphia Mint produced 848,000 dollars, which is the second lowest minted Peace dollar. Although its lifespan, as the US silver dollar, was short, the impact the Peace dollar left is a legacy that will live on. The Peace dollar was the first US coin to actually represent something other than liberty. Numismatists wanted to honor the peace achieved through World War I and dedicating a silver dollar seemed like the appropriate outcome. Your 1927 Peace silver dollar is in extra fine condition, exhibiting worn surfaces but holding tight to the last of the original mint luster.
