  • Description:

The San Francisco Mint is one of the most successful mints that also took part in the production of the Morgan silver dollar. Being first established in 1854 as a result of the gold mines of the California Gold Rush, it turned $4 million dollars of gold into bullion coins in just its first year of production. This was just the beginning of an incredibly lucrative business. It quickly outgrew its first building and moved to the Granite Lady building, where it withheld its structure during the 1906 San Francisco earthquake. Your 1922-S Peace silver dollar is considered to be in extra fine condition. Collectors, who enjoy extra fine dollars, expect a worn surface, especially around Lady Liberty's head and tiara. The original mint luster is also still prevalent, on extra fine dollars, making it a preferred condition among new collectors.
