  • Description:

More famous for being the Commanding General for the US Army, Ulysses S. Grant was elected as the 18th president of the United States of America. Working close with Lincoln during the Civil War, Grant led the Union Army to victory over the Confederacy. Grant was highly favored by the Republicans and was elected twice into presidency. The general's first term was successful since he made sure the African American's rights were protected and that the South adhered to the new laws of abolishing slavery. Grant's second term gets more attention than his first, dealing with corrupt associates and the poor leadership into an economic depression. Admirers of Grant will always bring to light his desire to give minorities rights in the US. Grant died of throat cancer after not being reelected for a third term.

The Commanding General Ulysses S. Grant led a poor life, leading him to rejoin the US Army to fight in the Civil War. Grant's success in battles is usually lent to his brute force, rather than his brilliant strategies. The 18th president's portrait is featured on the 2011-P Presidential Dollar, along with his two terms in office. Don Everhart is the mint-engraver who designs the Presidential Dollars, each president exhibiting their best picture. The reverse displays the Statue of Liberty, as well as the coin's legal tender value. The Philadelphia Mint shares history with the first 5 presidents, who were also part of the Founding Fathers. The Founding Fathers greatly desired for the new America to have its own currency and to be put on the international commerce map. The Philadelphia Mint marks the Presidential Dollars with a "P" mint-mark, on the rim of each coin. The Presidential Dollar series contains 25 brilliant uncirculated coins in a roll and is comprised of a copper/brass alloy, resulting in its popular golden color. It also cannot be guaranteed that this roll will come in original packaging.
