The San Francisco Mint is one of the largest and most successful mints that also produced Morgans in their prime. It was established in 1843, as a result of the famous California Gold Rush. In just its first year of production, the San Francisco Mint turned $4 million worth of gold into coins. To this day, the San Francisco Mint is still a very lucrative and prosperous mint, producing most of the US Mint's bullion coinage. The San Francisco Mint is also known for its overall better quality in producing coins than the other mints. When comparing the 1894-S to the 1894-O Morgan silver dollar, for example, there is quite a noticeable difference. The 1894-S is of better quality than the 1894-O, and nicer 1894-S Morgans are more readily available than the New Orleans counterpart, wherein the best you can find is extra fine. Your 1894-S Morgan carries the "S" mint-mark and is in fine condition.
