  • Description:

The Denver Mint only produced 5 out of the 10 Peace dollars minted, from 1921-1928, then 1934-35. Since it was a mint mainly for commemoratives and speciality coins, the Denver Mint was only called upon to help when there was a production time crunch. Naturally, collectors are drawn more to the Peace dollars carrying the "D" mint-mark since there are less of them. The 1927 Peace dollar shares the date with the establishment of the US Bureau of Prohibition, the Academy in Academy awards was founded, and the first transatlantic telephone was used. Your 1927-D Peace silver dollar carries the popular "D" mint-mark, and contains 90% silver. Your coin is considered to be in very fine condition, exhibiting large amounts of wear in the image details. Liberty is very worn around her hairline and the eagle's feathers are also worn. Very fine condition does not show any original mint luster.
