Sadly, this was the final year of production for the Morgan silver dollar. The 1904 coin was minted where it all began: Philadelphia. The Founding Fathers desired for the US to have its own national identity and a means to commerce internationally. Philadelphia was once the nation's capital, making it appropriate to establish the first mint there. The Mint Act was passed shortly after the establishment of the Philadelphia Mint, to issue guidelines for the newly minted currency. The Mint Act stated that there should be a decimal system based on a dollar denomination. It also demanded that every US coin should feature "an impression emblematic of liberty," making sense of why Lady Liberty is used so much on our currency. Lastly, the coin's metallic fineness and composition should also be stamped onto the coin.Your 1904 Morgan is in very fine condition, with noticeable wear to be expected and the original luster will be totally gone.
