Carson City was a small mint that produced the Morgan silver dollar. Due to its small stature, it could only produce small amounts of Morgans at a time, naturally awarding the Morgans minted there a lower mintage. Carson City couldn't afford to stay open and was decommissioned in 1893. Not only do Morgans with the "CC" mint-mark have a smaller mintage, they also didn't have as long a life as the other Morgans. Every collector looks for that magical "CC" mint-mark on the reverse of the Morgan Silver dollar. Your 1891-CC Morgan features the highly popular "CC" mint-mark in extra fine condition. Extra fine Morgans usually contain noticeable wear on Lady Liberty's cheek, ear, and hairline. The eagle, on the reverse, also exhibits wear on his tail, wing, and breast feathers. Luckily, extra fine Morgans still have some of the original mint luster from when it was first minted.
