  • Description:

Unless you are an avid coin collector, the history of when US coins were minted probably doesn't hold much interest for you. But knowing this history is just as important as the items you invest your money into. The Morgan silver dollar began its journey as a dollar in 1878 but due to constant governmental issues, its production ceased in 1904. The Pittman Act in 1918, which was the reauthorization of silver dollars, passed and the Morgans had their final year of mintage in 1921. Your 1881-O Morgan was minted in New Orleans and is in almost uncirculated condition. The traits that consist of almost uncirculated can vary but some are little wear on the Lady Liberty's cheeks and the eagle's design. There are also bag marks or surface abrasions on AU coins as well. Collectors enjoy storing their collection of Morgans in specially made folders, similar to the Dansco folder we sell in the Coin Supplies department.
