This breed came to be in Philadelphia, wherein a mother Siamese gave birth to a litter of kittens with white feet. The breeder decided to breed the white-footed cats with American Shorthairs and starting the Snowshoe breed. The markings on the Snowshoe are very interesting,; dark patches around the eyes, ears, tail, and part of its legs on an otherwise white body. On the reverse of this silver coin, the snowshoe cat is sitting next to its kittens and looking onward. Underneath the tiny paws is an inscription stating the coin's legal tender value of 1 crown, and the coin's weight of one ounce.
