The 1889-CC Morgan is a hot commodity in the coin world, reigning high on every collector's list. Morgans that wear the "CC" mint-mark are naturally part of a lower mintage because they were minted the Carson City Mint. The Carson City Mint was a smaller mint that was decommissioned in 1893. Since it was a smaller mint, it couldn't produced as many Morgans as the other mints. Also, it closed down earlier than the other mints, making the Carson City Morgans harder to find since there are less of them. But this coin may be the lowest mintage a Morgan has ever seen!
