Australia and Perth Mint Silver Coins
Australia and Perth Mint Silver Coins
The Perth Mint is Australia's oldest mint and is still in operation today. The Perth Mint traces its history to Great Britain's Royal Mint, which opened the Perth branch of the Royal Mint on June 20, 1899. The Perth Mint remained under British control until 1790. Now, the Perth Mint is owned by the Gold Corporation and is under the control and oversight of the Government of Western Australia.
Since its inception, the Perth Mint has been producing and refining large quantities of gold, silver and other precious metals. Today, the Perth Mint is still very involved in the bullion industry but is also involved in minting a variety of numismatic items for collectors.
