Morgan Silver Dollar Extra Fine Condition 1885-O

The production of the Morgan silver dollar not only helped the economy because silver was being turned into currency but it also aided to certain US Mints success. The New Orleans Mint served as a branch of the US Mint from 1838-1861, then again from 1879-1909. While the Morgan silver dollar was in production, the New Orleans Mint was able to stay in business since it relied on the Morgan silver dollar production. Unfortunately, the Morgan's production ceased in 1904 and the New Orleans Mint was decommissioned shortly after. Your 1885-O Morgan is considered to be in extra fine condition, with wear present around Lady Liberty's cheeks and hairline. The mint mark "O" is underneath the eagle, on the reverse, to represent the Old Mint. The Old Mint still stands today but as an official US landmark.
